Beehives Coming to Several Griffis Residential Communities

At Griffis Residential, we’re always striving to enhance our communities in ways that support both our residents and the planet. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce a new initiative: bees are coming late June 2025 to five of our Griffis communities!

Starting this year, professionally managed beehives will be installed at Griffis at Fiddler’s Green, Griffis at The Domain, Griffis Cheesman Park, Griffis Cherry Creek North, and Griffis LoDo.

We are building on a successful foundation—Griffis Lake Washington already has active beehives, and the positive impact there has inspired us to expand the program across more of our communities.

Why Bees Matter

Bees are more than just helpful pollinators—they are environmental superheroes. Ninety-nine percent of the bees in a hive are female, and these industrious insects play an essential role in sustaining the planet. They help save the planet by:

  • Pollinating plants that clean the air, stabilize soil, and support entire ecosystems.
  • Protecting our food supply, enabling the growth of crops that feed people and animals.
  • Boosting biodiversity, helping flowers, fruits, and vegetables thrive and maintaining ecological balance.

In short, bees make the world greener, healthier, and more resilient.

Environmental, Social, and Governance Benefits:

Introducing bees into Griffis communities isn’t just a feel-good effort—it’s a meaningful step in our ongoing commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) excellence.

Environmental Sustainability

  • Encourages biodiversity and supports native flora through pollination.
  • Promotes eco-conscious landscaping and green space planning.
  • Enhances our properties’ ecological footprint in urban environments.

Social Engagement

  • Connects residents with nature through hive tours, educational workshops, and community events.
  • Sparks curiosity and conversations about climate action and conservation.
  • Provides a unique, eco-forward amenity that adds character to our communities.

Governance & Transparency

  • Demonstrates measurable progress on ESG goals.
  • Highlights our role as responsible stewards of the environment.
  • Contributes to a transparent, future-focused sustainability strategy.

What Residents Can Expect

Each hive is managed by professional beekeepers and located in secure, non-intrusive areas like rooftops or garden spaces. Bees work quietly and efficiently, enhancing the local environment while coexisting peacefully with residents. And yes—some communities may even get to enjoy small-batch, local honey as a sweet reward for supporting pollinators.

At Griffis Residential, we believe that creating homes means caring for the ecosystems around them. With bees already thriving at Griffis Lake Washington and soon buzzing at five more locations, we’re proud to champion sustainability, biodiversity, and a healthier future for all. Stay tuned for upcoming bee events, become familiar with the new neighbors!
