Mr. Birnbaum is Co-Chief Executive Officer sharing responsibility for strategic management of the firm and its investment activities. In addition to being a member of the Griffis Residential Investment Committee, he oversees all sourcing and preliminary analysis for evaluation by the Investment Committee. He also manages the execution of major investment activities, oversees the firm’s institutional relationships and investor reporting, and is the Chief Compliance Officer in connection with the firm’s status as a Registered Investment Advisor.
Prior to Griffis Residential, Mr. Birnbaum was founder and CEO of JD Logistics, a Moscow-based contract logistics and warehousing company. He oversaw the expansion of JD Logistics into multiple international markets and managed the company’s sale and relocation to London in 1998, where he continued as CEO until 2003.
Mr. Birnbaum holds a B.A. from Colorado College and an M.B.A. from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School. He currently serves on the Investment Committee for the Jewish Community of Colorado, the Russian and Eastern European Acquisition Committee for London’s Tate Museum, and the Photography Acquisition Alliance for the Denver Art Museum.
