Welcoming a houseguest into your apartment home in a gracious way, makes your guest feel valued and comfortable. Getting your apartment ready doesn’t have to be a multi-day chore — in fact, it can consist of a few easy preparations. Here’s a checklist to get you going.

The Basics

Whole home – Start by giving the entire house a once-over, making sure that everything is put away and clean. Then, stock the refrigerator with your guest’s favorite eats and beverages.

Closets – Make sure there’s extra room in both the guest room closet as well as any coat closets for your guests to hang their things.

Guest bed – Obviously, start by putting a set of fresh sheets on the bed. Also, so your guests don’t have to hunt around, put an extra blanket and several extra pillows on the bed so they can adjust their bedding as necessary.

Guest bathroom – Clean the room from top to bottom: sink, mirror, toilet, and shower/tub. Stock the cabinet with plenty of extra toilet paper and set out a couple of folded fresh towels and washcloths. Lastly, ensure the shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion are all stocked and within reach.

Information – Post your WiFi password, home address, phone numbers, community pool rules, and Nest thermostat instructions in a place that’s easy to find.
